DECISION
PROMULGATING “CODE OF ETHICS FOR PHARMACY PRACTITIONERS”
THE MINISTER OF HEALTH
- Pursuant to the Government’s Decree No.68/CP dated October 11, 1993 on functions, tasks, powers and organizational structure of the Ministry of Health;
- At the request of General Director of Department of Legal Affairs, General Director of Drug Administration of Vietnam - Ministry of Health.
DECIDES
Article 1: The “Code of ethics for pharmacy practitioners” is promulgated together with this Decision and applies to pharmacy practitioners, including foreigners practicing pharmacy in Vietnam.
Article 2: This Decision comes into force after 15 days from the date on which it is signed.

CODE OF ETHICS FOR PHARMACY PRACTITIONERS
(Enclosed with the Decision No. 2397/1999/QD-BYT of the Minister of Health dated August 10, 1999)
Playing a part in health sector, pharmacy practitioners shall comply with 12 Articles on medical ethics and code of ethics - code of ethics for pharmacy practitioners - in order to practice, self-improve and strive to make a great contribution to provision of healthcare for the public.
The code of ethics for pharmacy practitioners:
1. Place the interests of patients and wellbeing of the public first.

3. Respect and protect rights and privacy of patients.
4. Strictly obey law and professional regulations; implement the national drug policy. Do not take advantage of or enable other persons to take advantage of their profession for self-seeking purposes, thereby violating laws.
5. Respect and cooperate with regulatory authorities in fighting against negative pharmacy practice.
6. Demonstrate honesty, solidarity and show respect for instructors and colleagues. Learn from experiences and exchange knowledge with colleagues and provide mutual assistance.
7. Closely cooperate with health officials in preventing and fighting against epidemics, providing medical examination and treatment, and conducting scientific research.
8. Practice pharmacy in a careful, meticulous and accurate manner. Do not harm health or infringe rights of patients, thereby damaging the prestige of the profession, for profitable aims.
9. Continuously develop professional expertise, gain experience, conduct research and apply science and technology, foster innovation and serve all social needs in any event.
10. Develop a sense of professional responsibility, adopt a civilized lifestyle; participate in preventing and fighting against vice.
