DECISION
ON THE USE OF VIETNAM’S NATIONAL REFERENCES AND COORDINATES SYSTEMS
THE PRIME MINISTER
Pursuant to the Law on Organization of the Government of September 30, 1992;
At the proposal of the General Director of Land Administration,
DECIDES:
Article 1.- To use the new national references and coordinates systems, in replacement of the current Hanoi-72 references and coordinates systems, with the following contents:
1. The name of the new national references and coordinates systems: VN-2000.
2. The VN-2000 has the following major parameters:

- Semi-major axis: a = 6,378,137.000 m
- Flatness: f = 1/298.257223563
b) The original point of the national coordinates: Point N00, located in the premise of the Land Administration Research Institute, Hoang Quoc Viet Street, Hanoi;
c) The basic plane coordinate projection: The international UTM Confirmed Cylindrical Transverse Projection;
d) The division into sections and pieces of the basic mapping system: according to the international UTM Confirmed Cylindrical Transverse Projection, the map’s nomenclature shall comply with current system, with the international UTM nomenclature’s notes.
3. The coordinates and height of the national geodetic points of various grades in the VN-2000 system shall be calculated and assigned by the General Land Administration to agencies and units wishing to use them in accordance with current regulations.
Article 2.- The VN-2000 shall replace the Hanoi-72 system and uniformly apply throughout the country to all mapping-measuring materials as from the effective date of this Decision.
Article 3.- To assign the General Land Administration to guide the uniform appliance of the new VN-2000 national references and coordinates systems throughout the country.
Article 4.- This Decision takes effect 30 days after its signing.
